Dr. Susan Beane

Dr. Susan Beane joined Healthfirst in 2009, bringing with her extensive professional experience in managed care. As Vice President and Executive Medical Director at Healthfirst, Dr. Beane focuses on strategies designed to improve the delivery of equitable, evidence-based, value driven health care to our members and communities. Dr. Beane is a proponent of collaborating with and engaging providers to improve health outcomes and to address social factors that impact those outcomes. By engaging providers, policymakers, and communities, she works toward an accessible, effective, efficient, and equitable healthcare system that promotes value for all.
Dr. Susan Beane is an expert in health system transformation which is the design, implementation, and dissemination of innovative models of care. Her research contributions span the impact on the health of communities through collaboration with stakeholders, health of aging populations and their caregivers, hypertension control in marginalized communities, and maternal health.
Dr. Beane is a board-certified internist, as well as a fellow of the American College of Physicians. A native Bronxite and New Yorker. Prior to joining Healthfirst, Dr. Beane served as Chief Medical Officer for Affinity Health Plan for five years—during which time she helped Affinity’s plan become a top performer in quality and member satisfaction. Dr. Beane is a graduate of Princeton University and Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons.
